Speech delay 22m

My son is 22 months old and at the moment he only knows about 10 animal sounds (pig, cow, dog, cat etc) and 10 words but only some complete words (dad, here, there) otherwise they are incomplete words like Bye (yeee) or Hurray (ayyy). His communication is mainly by pointing or gestures. For example when he wants a banana he points but doesn't say banana but "that" or something I can't understand, he does the same when he wants to a toy. He also points outside at things like planes, birds, cars. He point where he want to go and waiting for approval. He know some signs like up, down, please etc.
He understands some instructions like bring your shoes, bring your pyjamas, throw it in the trash, let's go to the bath or when I ask him "What sound pig does" he makes a pig sound. He can wave (If I ask or if someone leaving), clap (If I ask or when he finish something), fist bump with me or high five If I ask and sign nursery rhymes (He know a lot of them).
He likes other people and children (love to playing chase with them). He can imitate me when I do something with my mouth (like farting, stick out tongue, nose blowing) or If i do something with my legs or hands. He can repeat animal sounds If I start making the sounds but If I try to make him repeat words he won't.
He likes playing with his cars (the right way), throw or kick a ball or kids puzzles.
But If I compare him with his peers he is so behind with his speech, kids (same age) around us can speak 2-3 words sentences easily. I want speech therapy for him but I live eastern europe and here is no speech therapy until 2,5-3y and nobody is concerned.
Can I ask for similar stories and what helped with your kids?

Mine is 21.5 months and very similar indeed. I found that she passes the 20 month ages and stages questionnaire for communication, but not the 22 months one, so in all honesty I'm not worried as we can see new words or sounds coming and she is understanding more all the time. She also excels at physical stuff so I think she's focusing on that! I'll start to worry if things don't take off more communication wise as she reaches 2 years old. Perhaps I am being dim to think this way but I've had plenty of childminders tell me they have worked with under 2s who only have a few words and by 2 they are all talking a lot more.
