Difficult toddler behaviour coinciding with developmental leaps?

Does anyone else find that difficult/frustrating behaviour in their toddler often precedes a developmental leap/milestone?

My two year old has been a frustrated, tantrum-y monster for the past week and wondering (hoping!) if it’s because he’s about to go through a developmental leap. The week before he was sweetness and light, and a delight to be around, but the past few days he’s lost his sh’t over the smallest of things and woken up lots in the night too. I took him to soft play this morning and had to leave early because he was throwing toys around.

Guess I’m just looking for a reason for this behaviour and hoping it goes away soon 🤣

It sometimes comes before a developmental leap. It's also generally true ime that a child who isn't challenged is challenging, so it's maybe you who needs to go through a leap! Does he need a new challenge? Time to give him a bit of responsibility, a job to do, get rid of the buggy...

Has he got all his teeth because they turn into stroppy fuckers when the back ones are coming in😅

This is interesting as we are planning on trying the buggy board with him (we have a newborn) to see how he gets on. He’s got a reputation of being a flight risk so I’ve been nervous to try it but need to bite the bullet!

He has a slight speech delay so I was kinda hoping his behaviour was a sign of a developmental leap and that his speech was going to explode. But might be wishful thinking…

Also a possibility as his molars aren’t through yet…

I can't believe you're looking for an excuse for difficult behaviour and night waking and didn't mention the newborn sibling! It's probably that!

Not so much newborn as she’s now 3 months and he has been absolutely fine up until the last week or so! In fact if anything his interactions with her have improved and he’s got more gentle with her.

Think I’m just looking for a reason when sometimes they are just being toddlers and it will pass!

Hi, I can’t remember to be honest! I think everything is a phase and passes although doesn’t feel like it at the time!
