Bathtime nightmare. LOVES water TOO much!

My 18 month DD is a nightmare at bathtime. She bangs with her arms in the water shouts bang and soaks the whole room and everyone in it. It is NOT funny any more. I am losing it with her telling her to stop but she does it all the more. I lost it this morning and just grabbed her and pulled her out of the bath. It now has to be very short bathtime. She wont play with any bath toys. I am soaked, the floor is soaked, clothes are soaked. It may seem funny but she'll end up not getting bathed at all and also we're going away on hols in June and I'm afraid she'll be clearing the pool LOL. Does anyone else's little one do this.

i think this sounds utterly usual

DS usually soaks me, the bathroom - part of being a toddler

cover yourself in a towel and get an extra big bathmat to soak up the worst of it

RubySlippers · 22/04/2008 10:39

oh, and if you tell her to stop/make a fuss abotu soaking you then she will do it all the more

anyway, IMVHO baths are meant to be splashy and silly

Mine do this from time to time, but I look them in the eye and tell them that if they don't calm down, bathtime will be over.

It doesn't stop if completely, but it does mean I can follow it through and put an end to it (and then have to put up with the crying!!)

Oh I know bathtime is meant to be splashy but DD literally takes it to the extreme. She v nearly empties the bath!

put less water in!

a couple of inches should be ok for her to get a good wash

DS stands up and throws himself face first into the water over and over again. He also stands up ank kicks with one leg, which his extensive trials have proved to be the best way to get the biggest splash in our bath.

I don't fill it up too much, and stand well back!

If he has a cup/jug, it is taken away as soon as he looks like he will empty it onto the floor, but tbh I like the fact that he isn't scared of water.

You will be fine on holiday. DS does the same in swimming pools, but most people don't even notice.

Have you tried her in the shower if you just want to get her clean?
