Blimey, toddler tantrums! Am new to this...

DD1 (4.5) is very proficient in throwing wobblies these days, but they are more of the Can't have/get what I want = throw a strop/slam doors variety. She never had tantrums as a toddler

DD2 (20m) OMG. Have noticed them over the last few days really... proper, full-on, screaming, foot-stamping, rolling around on the floor type. And they seem to be triggered by absolutely nothing of any real consequence (well to me, anyway!)

Happy Days ahead

Is it fairly usual for tantrumming to start about this age? Thought she was a bit young, tbh

Aren't they funny when they do it though? So little and sooo angry!

DS had a few tantrums around 20 - 24 months then packed it in. DD is already showing signs at 14 months of perfecting the art.

Distract, distract, distract. It's the only piece of advice I will ever dispense on the subject

notnowbernard · 21/04/2008 18:52

It has been amusing to watch because it is such a New Thing (for me generally and obviously for DD2)

A bit wearing this evening when her dinner went all over the floor and she screamed for about 15mins straight

My mantra - distract ignore distract ignore distract ignore and on and on when DS1 was a tantrumming 22 month old.

Yes, must remember to Distract

Am out of practice with that one, as dd1 a bit past it IYKWIM

We've got (very) new neighbours as well

it's only starting at 20 mo old???

Goodness. With DS it started at 13 months...and is continuing to evolve into ever-more annoying fits of temper.

With DD, it's already begun. She's not even 11 mo old.

You lucky duck, is all I can say. Sorry no advice, just sympathy

She's been a very laid-back little thing until recently

Mind you, she's got a grand teacher in the form of DD1, who is am-dram in the extreme lately

But she is VERY volumatic (word?) even when happy
