Discipline advice for 7 month old

My son is 7 months old and his personality and development is really coming on. So many positive behaviours but sometimes a few testing ones! I don't want to be too hard with the discipline as he's just a baby but as a first time mum not sure when or how others have gone about discipline or even if it should start this young. I do say no to him or use a more stern tone when he does things I don't think is right, and today when I said no he started to cry so I think he's working out that I'm telling him off (feelings of guilt for another post! 😥). Any advice on the best and most kindest way to set discipline with your little ones?

By all means say no, but beyond that at this age, it's really all about remove (him or the object) and distract. And also about controlling the environment – try to mostly have him in spaces he's relatively free to explore, not ones too full of 'don't touch that' stuff.

At 7 months old, it's not about discipline. It's about keeping him safe, giving him a safe environment to explore, and giving him cuddles.

7 months is too young for discipline as such.Distraction is the best way to go.

7 months far too young

Thank you all for comments. I will look at distraction and removing things (like my hair!) and plenty of kisses and cuddles.

Can you tie back your hair? My DC2 liked to play with my hair when feeding so I tied it back and directed her little fingers to my earlobe instead, that seemed to sooty her and wasn't as painful as having my hair pulled!
