Worried about 8 month old babbling

Hi everyone,

I’m a first time poster but I’m hoping some of you can share your experiences with me!

I have 8.5 month old twin boys (8 months adjusted) and one is babbling away saying “dadada, mamama” etc. The other is only using ah, oh, geh and not using any repetitive babbling and few consonants, I might hear the occasional ‘ma’

He has great eye contact, is a very smiley happy baby, very vocal with his vowels and squealing, can differentiate between objects when you ask him where something is, initiates peek-a-boo himself and he’s very interactive and loves to play.

He doesnt clap hands yet and he does mimic yet - things his twin brother is doing.

We recently had a visit with a paediatrician and they didn’t seem worried but I can’t help but think why isn’t he babbling yet - google sent me down a terrifying rabbit hole!

I know he’s 8.5 months but all I can see is babies of a similar age saying mamama etc.

have any of you experienced the same and your babies just started babbling late?

I wouldn’t worry. 8 months is still very young and baba use all develop at different rates - even twins! It’s great that he’s got good eye contact and interacts etc.
I think if his twin wasn’t saying more then maybe you’d not have noticed that one of them is saying less, if you know what I mean? He does sound normal.
When I saw our health visitor at about 14 months we discussed speech and she said not to worry until about 15 or 16 months, and only then worry if baby isn’t really trying to say something.
My son is 17 months and still hasn’t said mama or mummy, but he runs around shouting daddy 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m pretty sure at 8 months all he did was shriek and make the odd vowel sound.
Don’t worry, he’s still very young so has a lot of time to pick up more sounds yet :)

My daughter didn't say mama until like 18m I think, was saying dada earlier, and now is a VERY chatty 26mo
