Help my DD has gone off her potty since she actually used it for a wee and a poo

We have had two potties hanging around the house for months so that DD is used to them and happy to sit on them. She has been for ages and has recently associated them with needing a poo. Basically when she felt she was going to do a poo she would say she needed to sit on the potty and would do so with her clothes and nappy still on. Usually it was in fact after she'd already done it but we thought it was good she was making the association. We have also for some time shown her the poo in her nappy so that it wasn't a shock to her to see it. Well two nights ago she actually sat on the potty before her bath and did a poo and went back about 5 mins later and did a wee. However she now won't sit on it at all and gets upset when we suggest she tries - she'll be 2 in three weeks. We were going to try the Gina Ford potty train in a week at the end of May but not sure what to do now - any help anybody please?

if she's getting upset then forget it completely. It's counterproductive to keep on with it when it's upsetting her.

She's not two yet; there's plenty of time. She's very young for you to be thinking about this - any particular reason you have had potties around etc for a one year old?!

Agree with Honoria, it's very early if she's not ready. Also they sometimes are revulsed by seeing poos in potties - and who wouldn't be?

Leave it. She will go back to it when she's ready. Our DD is 3.2 and only just starting training.

The only reason we had them around was that we were given them & never put them away as it were. She decided she wanted to sit on them. We've only started to talk to her about their actual use in the last couple of months. However she now seems to know when she is going to poo & wants her nappy changed straight away.
