6 month old uncomfortable sitting

I'm just looking for a bit of advice as a FTM. MY LG IS 6.5 months and has been able to sit assisted since around 5 months but since then there's been no development. I know babies have until 9 months to properly sit unassisted, but when I put her in a sitting position she just whinges and cries like she's uncomfortable.

I've tried prop sitting, toys between legs, TV (to encourage her to look up), pillows the lot. She just thrashes around and throws herself back though. She's the same during tummy time, will happily roll on to her tummy but starts to whinge/cry after a minute or so.

Is this normal or should I seek medical advice to ensure there's nothing wrong?

TIA! Xx

She probably IS uncomfortable because she physically isn’t able to hold herself in that position. If someone put you into a plank position and expected you to stay like that you might moan too! I would think it’s completely normal for a just turned 6 month old to not be confidently sitting yet, 6 months is the very earliest you would expect this skill and it really isn’t “expected” by then. Do lots of tummy time and she will get there

Neither of my babies were sitting completely independently until about 7/8 months, could maybe sit awkwardly for a few minutes and then topple over but that’s all, both walking by their first birthday and haven’t stopped running since! I really wouldn’t worry.
