Hi everyone.

I am thinking of speaking to the health visitor for some advice, but wanted to hear other people's experiences in the mean time.

Our girl is 18 months old on the 5th August. And I'm a little concerned about her speech. She was saying dadadad( of course dad first 🤣) when she was 8 months, constantly, and has since then stopped. She went through a phase of copying us saying 'ta' when she was handed things, but that stopped, now she's not saying anything at all 🥺 now and again we hear her trying to murmer the word mam, but that's it. She developed quickly in other senses, such as walking by 10 months. She's good at leading us to the high chair for snack or lunch etc, and brings us toys she wants to play with, claps when we praise her, but isn't vocal. Any one with similar experiences, please tell me what they think?

A very concerned first time mother 😔

I must also add she does respond to her name and gives kisses when we ask for one, and responds when we tell her no 🤣so I'm not concerned about hearing so far 🩷

Hello! Does she points? Does she understands simple commands like give me the ball? If yes i wouldn't worry too much at this point

Hello 🥰 she doesn't point, but if she has something that she shouldn't have like my phone for example and I say give it to me, she does 🥰

It's good that she understands you a bit. Pointing is not considered delayed until 18 months so she still has a bit of time. Late poining is also related to speech delay so maybe she is just a bit behind in these areas. However, speaking with your HV is always good for any doubt.
