Hyper 8 month old, feedling and changing battles

Our 8 month old is very lively, always kicking her legs and into everything. She has kicked her legs so much she has developed a blister on her big toe. Generally she is a very happy, charming and inquistive but the flash points are feeding and changing her.

When she is been fed almost anything else becomes more interesting from head-butting the high chair to aerosoling her food. Everytime its a battle and very wearing leaving both DP and I stressed.

Changing times are worse with her rolling, wriggling, grabbing- its like fighting a hyperactive octopus.

Has anyone got any ideas/tips on making feeding and changing easier. Shes getting worse as shes getting older, today on separate occasions, both I and DP had to put her down and walk away and calm down.

It just seems such a shame because at nearly all other times she is such a love and so charming. For example just now I was brushing her hair and gave her her brush, she looked at it, examined it thoughtfully and then handed it back to me with a smile. She was absolutely lovely!

oh dear, do sympathise but am afraid it does get worse, especially when crawling as they can get off the mat if you are ground level. I give ds things to hold like the wipes or a toy and that can keep him still sometimes. Hoever i have been known to chase him around with wipes to clean him. Its worse if they have pooed and then sit down on cream carpet
With the food thing have you tried finger foods so she can pick them up or give her a spoon to hold.

Best of luck

hi elenorrigby my ds is 20months old now and is on the go constantly he also is a huge pain at changing times its like a wrestling match .i wish someone would come up with a changing mat with straps for the arms and legs(and no im not a creul mother)it just would be nice not having a struggle all the time .he is also easily distracted at meal times because everything else is more interesting than eating !!

We give DS (7 months) toys on the changing mat (for "toys" read DH's mobile phone )which keeps him a bit quieter. With the food issue have you tried BLW?
