Dyspraxia and bike riding

Hello,

My DS is 6 and learnt to pedal a bike with stabilisers earlier this year in January after years and years of practicing. Ds was absolutely over the moon he could join his siblings on bike rides. He has dcd and autism (waiting for dx)...he's had a growth spurt so we bought him a new bike which doesn't have stabilisers. He absolutely loves riding his bike (he's very into everything bike related) however some of the kids In his class took the mickey of his bike / stabilisers on Friday night and he's really taken their comments to heart.

We've been trying since Friday night to get the balance (towel trick?) But he's very wobbly and ends up veering to the right or something will catch his attention and he crashes to the ground. Do we keep going trying? Do I remove the pedal? Or would you recommend keeping the stabilisers and trying again next year?

Thank you 😊

DS doesn't have dyspraxia but was very, very wary of riding his bike without stabilisers. In the end we took him to a beach that's quite quiet and convinced him that if he fell he wouldn't get hurt.
