2 Y/O Delayed walking and Hypermobility

Hi! First time posting, hoping for some similar stories to quieten my worrying mind.

My 2 Y/O isn't independently walking confidently. He's able to walk holding our hands and walking across the room, however this is unsteady. He has Piedro boots as his foot turns in.

Due to his delay in Motor skills he has been referred for blood tests to rule out any Neuro-Muscular conditions that could be causing this - I believe this is standard process if they are delayed in walking past 18 months?

As every parent that has gone through blood tests knows, it's an agonising wait for the tests and then for the results! He finally had them yesterday, just awaiting his results.

We saw the Physio yesterday who is amazed at his progress and the fact he can walk and he is quite steady. However she commented on how his foot is still rolling in with his Piedro boots and suggested Splints. She also said he's hypermobile. Which is apparently is his joints? She believes this could be why he is delayed in walking, as he hasn't got the stability to make him confident.

I think the main worry is something like DMD - however, he doesn't walk on his toes, doesn't struggle getting up etc.

He was delayed in sitting up unaided and also crawling, but has made steady progression. From what I have read, Hypermobility can cause these delays? He has quite a lot of strength in his arms and legs and doesn't struggle to stand, climb etc.

Has anyone else been through something similar with delays and having to have blood tests?

Sorry for the rant, just looking for some similar stories!

Hypermobility definitely can delay walking. I read somewhere that many babies who are hyper mobile walk at age 2 only. Blood tests such as Creatinine Kinase can rule out DMD or more serious conditions.

thank you - just awaiting his bloods. They’re back but the doctor won’t review them until next week now.
