Anyone ever deleted Roblox or removed an iPad forever?

I can't deal with my daughter's mood swings. She is 7 and so addicted to screen time. All she wants to do is watch tv or play Roblox on her iPad.

We got her the iPad to help with homework etc. as a lot of the stuff she does at school is on an app. But she was begging us for Roblox because all her friends had it and she felt left out. We've put time limits, screen time etc. on there but she knows how to override it all! If we tell her to put it down and come to the table for tea, she sulks, rolls her eyes and answers back.

I wish we'd never got it and I want to delete it for good but I don't know if that's a step too far.

Has anyone ever taken the iPad away for good or deleted a game they're glued to?

Help?!

I have a 6 and 8 year old and they told me all their friends have it too - they don't! I have since spoken to other parents and together we've resisted. So don't feel bad about that. It might FEEL like everyone has it, but probably not in reality.

I would say start by cutting down and replacing it with something else. Put it out of sight and make a conscious effort to engage her other things at the times she would usually be asking for it. You could spend some money on some new art materials or board games for example. Pack out her schedule for a couple of weeks to break the habit, because it is addictive.

Reduce the time bit by bit and I would probably cut Roblox out to nothing. I work in a school and I have a lot of concerns about Roblox, some of our very young children are talking to strangers on it and many have changed their age on the app so they can play older games. It might be hard to get rid of it , but it will be worth it.

Thank you for the advice 😊

Really good idea about the board games/art kit. She had all these bought for Christmas/birthdays and she's completely lost interest in them all. If she's not on her iPad or watching tv she complains she's bored in less than 2 minutes 🙄

It'd be interesting to know if other parents managed to get the usage completely down.

Let me know how you get on.

our daughter is the same. It’s makes her so angry and poorly behaved. Out of frustration I threw the iPad and it smashed into a million pieces. That should have been the opportunity for no more but guilt took over and I downloaded it on
my phone and she’s now still obsessed. If she’s not playing Roblox she’s watching YouTube videos of people
playing it.
we did the time limits etc but you can override them with a click of a button - pointless!
