Autism…. Facial features and tongue thrusting?

Hi all, I am a mum of 3 beautiful children and I love them all dearly!!!
The reason for this thread is that my beautiful daughter who was only born 7 weeks ago is showing lots of signs that she is going to be autistic…. I know this seems extremely young to suggest this but it’s my 3rd baby so I have plenty to compare too!
My daughter was born with the biggest eyes and she has been a very wide eyes baby ever since (everyone comments on this!) and the second thing is she has tongue thrusted consistently since she was born too…..
I am wondering of anyone can shatter their experiences of newborn with autism? Does your child have specific facial features and if so how have things been for them??
ultimately I just want my daughter to be happy…. Nothing more nothing less! Thankyou to anyone who takes the time to read this far and look forward to your responses xxxx

I have never heard of eye size being linked to autism ... where did you hear this?

Hey hun no me neither,
I hope my original post doesn’t upset anyone, my daughter is beautiful and I will love her unconditionally regardless of what happens but I googled tongue thrusting as my little girl was doing this a lot, I did not even think about the eye thing only when I started reading I seen that apparently there are certain facial features that can be found in people with ASD my daughter has a small face with quite big eyes which are also wide spaced compared to my other children (I work in optics so it’s one of the first things I noticed when she was born!) so the tongue thing and the wide eyes has me a little concerned aswell as a couple of other things xxx

I have heard of wide spaced eyes being linked but I've not read any research on it. Has much research been done?

Autism is a specific developmental learning disability and there is no way of telling if she will have autism at such a young age.

However, if you if worried about another congenital issue which causes a learning disability or other health problems, then yes, unusual facial features can be a sign of a genetic problem. You should discuss it with your GP if you're worried and there are other issues too.

The tongue thrusting is normal though at 7 weeks.

This is the research

I'm not sure how useful it is though, the sample size is very small, there are more girls in the control group, they haven't allowed for racial differences or refracted anyone.

There are several studios showing that pupil sizes are larger in autistic children and it's well documented that they have a higher rate of long sightedness and also strabismus.
