Hi, my little girl is 9 months old, she’s not crawling yet or even pulling herself to stand using furniture, when i hold her hands she does pull to stand then. she’s not babbling, responding to her name and she barely makes eye contact, recently she’s been so so moody but i’ve put that down to teething as that’s the only thing i can think of that would be upsetting her, she’s also started making a humming noise constantly and i know i shouldn’t but when ive researched all these things they all come back to autism, has anyone else’s baby been delayed in crawling, babbling, standing etc and been diagnosed with autism or am i just stressing for no reason? and when did you see signs of your baby meeting these milestones? i feel like im constantly looking out for signs of autism in her because of this and stressing myself out

Of course signs of this that or the other can present themselves, but there is a very good reason that it’s deemed to young to be making any sort of diagnosis. She is simply to little and the research tells us that the majority will go on to develop ‘normally’.

My little girl did not crawl until she was a year and was an exceptionally quiet baby. She is almost 7yrs old now and has no neurodivergence. My little boy was also iffy with eye contact – he also grew out of it.

I would flag with the health visitor as they will have come across every type of behaviour and outcome and can give you more information. It can be very stressful, but watching and waiting is the thing to do.

Hiya OP
i wouldn’t worry about the pulling up to stand and crawling just yet, by 9months they should be able to stand assisted and against furniture if you place them there and getting in and out of sitting.

my DD did all by 8 months but my 9 month old DS also isn’t crawling yet but can stand assisted and get in to sitting from lying down. I’m not worried yet! Haha hopefully he Will soon. They all develop at different rates for sure and there’s a wide range of Normal.

does your baby babble at all? Or make other aaaa ooo sounds? If you’re worried speak to HV or GP. But at this age it’s impossible to tell. Trust your gut. X

Mine pulled to stand at 10 months, hands and knee crawled at about the same time and now at 12 months seems very close to walking. It can literally change overnight.

Feel like I could have wrote this post myself. I’m feeling so anxious about everything. How did your LO get on @m4riex? My LO army crawls but hand flaps like mad. Everyone says it’s common but I’m finding it hard to rationalise this.

Hi guys, so so sorry i didn’t reply to any of the previous messages! i’m new to mumsnet and couldn’t work out how to get back on my post and check replies until today when i got a notification that someone replied. I have a little update, my little girl started crawling literally not long after i made this post, she was a couple days away from turning 10 months when she finally mastered it. She is 13 months old now and is pulling herself to stand and walking round furniture, she sometimes responds to her name now which depends on what i’m calling her for🤣she does babble a little now too, mainly sounds but a lot better then what she was originally. She’s had her one year review and they did do it two times as she was a little bit behind on fine motor skills and problem solving but a month later they did it again and she had improved so they said they aren’t worried about her :) there are some days i still stress about her but as @Didimum said all i can do is watch and wait. @99SR i found that bribing my daughter (as mean as it sounds🤣) with her favourite toy made her more interested in crawling, i also do this when she’s trying to walk unaided too :) if you have anything else you want to ask pls feel free :)) x

@Didimum she is improving everyday :) she is a little slower then my friends babies but as @eliayd said they all develop at different rates so i’m not too worried :))
also @99SR my little girl still hand flaps but mainly when she’s excited or her favourite nursery rhyme comes on the telly, it’s so hard to say don’t stress too much as i know how it feels to be worried about little one’s development but honestly since writing this post she’s improved on so much and i have no doubt your little one will master crawling very soon and regret stressing about it so much as now i can’t even leave the room without turning around and seeing her creeping round the corner to see where i’ve gone🤣x
