Sudden switch in 18 month

Since Sunday evening, 18 month old DS has developed low appetite. At nursery he will only eat fruits, cereal and toast but not his main meals.

And he is struggling to fall asleep and woke up every 2 hours yesterday. Same thing right now as I am typing this, crying in his cot and refusing to sleep. Have tried to cuddle him, rock him but he won't sit still.

We used to be able to drop him off to sleep and he will fall asleep on his own. And up till now, an excellent eater.

And occasionally he feels hot to touch but only for an hour or so then goes away.

I don't know what's going on and I don't know what to do...

Oh and forgot to mention, he doesn't even want his pacifier anymore.

Have you taken his temperature? If he feels hot for an hour and then cooler maybe he’s having fever and chills. Check his temperature when he’s warm and cooler.
Or is he teething at all?

Thank for your reply @Row23 . We did take his temperature, ranges between 36.9 and once or twice it jumps to 38 and right away when we test it again it will jump back down to 37/high of 36. The thermometer doesn't seem to be broken as when we test it on ourselves we can consistent results.

I think you are right though, it is possibly teething and just have to wait it out. Just breaks our heart when he cries so pitifully in particular during his bedtime. He rarely does.

He most likely just has a little virus, it’s constant when they’re at nursery. If it’s only been a few days I wouldn’t worry. Just give lots of cuddles, focus on water and whatever foods he has an appetite for and it will probably pass quickly.

Thanks for the reassurance @MotherOfDragon20 !!
