Advice? Toddler not walking at 2 yet

My toddler will be 2 in a few days and he’s still not walking, he’s not interested in it whatsoever. He just sits down every time I try get him to walk as he can get about quicker crawling. I’ve literally done everything I can as I always get questioned why he’s not walking yet as he definitely should be so it’s upsetting. His left foot is also always on his tip toe (never flat) and this is preventing him from balancing without holding onto anything. Has anyone else’s child has this at all? My child’s physio has never seen this (with just 1 foot) before and can’t explain it and his foot seems fine and can’t see anything wrong with it so she’s unsure how to help?😟

Has a doctor seen your child?

If they are not walking at age 2 it should be checked out.

It could be as simple as an issue with the Achilles tendon.

However my cousin did struggle with walking and was on tiptoe on one foot until about 15. He had cerebral palsy.

There could be other causes too. But if you can get him seen by a medical professional then they can help him.

Are you on the UK @Kelz009? The NHS advise seeing a GO if they're not walking by 18 months.

@HazelBunny @CadyEastman Yeah, seen a GP when he was 18m and was just referred to a physio after that who literally can’t see anything wrong with him each time she’s seen him I’ve tried everything😣

Ok so I'd book an appointment with the HV. Fill in the Ages & Stages for 24 months and the Social & Emotional Ages & Stages for 24 months and ask your HV to score both of them.

I'd also book and appointment with your GP and say that you've tried Physio but they can't see a physical issue. He now needs referring to a Paediatrician for investigation.

Did you ever get an answer on this? My 18 month old has been cruising around furniture for a good while but we noticed quite quickly she was always on tiptoes never places her foot flat to the ground. Even at rest they seem in more of a pointed position. If she allows when she is sitting you can get them into a normal position. She still cannot walk independently although does try occasionally. We have an appointment with children's physio in a couple of weeks.
