Not hitting milestones due to reflux

Hi all.

My LG is 7 months old and has suffered with reflux since birth, the pain is under control with infant gaviscon however the sickness is not. She is such a happy baby I cannot fault her however the sickness is constant.

She first rolled over at about 5 months (belly to back) and did it a few times between 5-6 months. She has probably done it a total of 6/7 times (still belly to back) however she will not do it anymore! She has never done back to belly. She is not interested in going back to belly. Everytime she is on her back she puts her legs in the air and wants to play with her feet. She does sit unaided and has done since about 5.5 months.

She HATES tummy time and it’s something iv always struggled with and probably not given her enough time with it however due to the sickness iv found it so difficult for time as she’s always either hungry, just been fed or tired. So I am now worried as she isn’t rolling both ways like she should and not nearly showing any signs of crawling (which is more normal). She also will not put any weight on her feet, I try and get her to stand and she lifts her legs out infront of her.

I feel like I’m being a worried FTM.

So I have a few questions.
Has this happened to anyone else’s baby and they have been delayed with milestones due to reflux?
Could she be being lazy as she has rolled before and is now just refusing?
Should I be concerned she won’t put weight on her legs?
If it persists when should I seek help?

Thank you!

I could have written most of this about my son at the same age. We basically stopped tummy time at 4 months due to reflux and not gaining weight as he’d just be sick every time he was on his front. I was worried about his rolling too. When he was about 7ish months and weaning a bit we started putting him on his tummy and he quickly learnt to roll onto his back, so again, tummy time didn’t happen as he’d just always roll onto his back.
He did however love to stand so we just focused on that more and he started walking pretty early. He just skipped crawling. He didn’t roll from back to tummy until about 11 months and that was only so he could get into a position to push himself up so he could stand.
If your daughter doesn’t want to put her legs down to stand, could you try something like a Jumperoo? I know they’re not the best to be in for a long time, but it might encourage her to start putting her feet down more maybe?
Of course, if you are worried then definitely contact your HV as they’ll have resources to help you and it’s always worth checking in with them and letting them know of anything you think might be an issue.

I wouldn't be concerned about the rolling or crawling. I think that WHO are thinking of removing crawling as a milestone as it's so variable when babies actually do it.

I would be concerned about your DD not bearing weight though. I think that needs checking.

Just wanted to add that it might be worth filling in the 8 month Ages & Stages and seeing how they score.

Obviously things can change very quickly at this age and your LO isn't supposed to score in the white for every section but if they are in the grey for more than 2 areas or are in the black for any then I'd see the HV urgently.
