Baby not feeding or sleeping well after jabs. is this normal?

Hi all. My ds had his 8 week jabs on Wednesday morning. Normally, he is very chilled out - naps well in day, feeds pretty well and sleeping well at night. Since jabs however, he has stopped having decent naps in the day (i.e. will only sleep for 30 minutes at a time) and is drinking half the amount he was before the jabs.
Is it normal for them to be unsettled for a few days like this? What was your experience?
He hasn't got a temperature so I've not given him any calpol.

did any of you have similar?

feedback would be great.

MM.

And if it's normal, how long does it last? I want my settled baby back!

Happened to us 2 weeks ago. It took 3 days for him to get back to normal. I did give calpol but he was 3months old so ok (so they say) It was horrible, you have my sympathies and now i'm dreading the next lot

Hi MabelMay - DS2 just had his second set of injections and has been unsettled for about 10 days now - apparently it is normal to get a reaction anything up to 6 days after the injections, lasting for about a week and apparently boys react worse than girls to the immunisations, they can bring on colicky symptoms amongst other things which they have with my DS, and he has also not been sleeping and eating particularly well, we have been seeing a chiropractor anyway and she has adjusted him a couple of times over the last 2 weeks which has definitely helped and he seems to be on the home stretch. Like you I am dreading the next set

Thanks for your replies. My ds2 is still unsettled, and I'm finding it really upsetting. He was such a good sleeper before. Now he wakes screaming after half an hour. I feel like I've completely lost any sense of what he wants - when he wants to feed, when he wants to sleep - and it's all been since he had the vaccinations. I'm clinging on to the hope that this will pass. Will it? And he'll be back to himself soon. It's been four days now, and I thought they were supposed to be unsettled just in the first 24 hours afterwards. Also I dont remember this happening with my first ds so I'm a bit thrown by it all.
When he's awake he seems fine and has no temperature etc
I wish I didn't get so upset by these things and was more able to go with the flow, but sadly I'm not that kind of mum!

Aw Mabel you're that 'kind of mum' because you care, don't beat yourself up for that

I would say if still unsettled by mon then get a docs appt, just to be on the safe side. Ds had his jabs on a tues and by sat he was starting to brighten up..

Thanks Lizzer - reassuring to know this has happened to others and it is not unusual for it to go on for quite a few days. He seems to be better since lunchtime so I'm hoping (fingers crossed) he will be back to himself before too long.
