Nursery concerns regarding child’s emotional development

last week my child’s nursery has pulled me aside to express they have “emotional development concerns” . My child is 3, I am a little thrown back and confused by the “emotional development issues” has this happens to anyone else ? Is this common? What does this imply. Thank you

I'd ask for a meeting and ask for the specifics and go from there. Take note if everything that is said. It's very hard to know what they mean from that one sentence?
Do you have any concerns at home?

Thanks for the response, no I don’t have any concerns at home. I have asked for a meeting, I am also asking health visitor to get on board so anything can be discussed together. I just wasn’t sure if this was a common thing with toddlers to have emotional development issues or if this is something to worry about. Thank you

Was it social and emotional development rather than just emotional development?

Kelsx · 01/05/2024 12:45

Just emotional development was mentioned social development wasn’t mentioned

I don't think that's great practice on their part, tell you one vague sentence so you can't help but worry, but can't possibly actually do much useful (although I think getting in touch with the HV was a good call). Hopefully you'll be able to have the meeting soon and understand what their concerns are.

Yeah I’ve spoke to nursery they’re happy for HV to go in at a later date with me. I spoke to the nursery they’ve just set a smart goal and salt goal , I think it is just to help him understand and control his emotions but a discussion with both me the health visitor and key practitioner can’t harm so I’m looking forward to hearing what the nursery have to say when that takes place but a little more at ease for now

But regarding these smart goals and salt goals is this a common thing ? I know it gets reviewed every 6 weeks but in terms of this approach is this something that’s common or should I be worried . Thank you

there is things which they’ve picked on which I do agree with so I’m all for anything that may benefit :)
