8 months - nearly crawling - how do I entertain him?

Hi everyone, my DS has been almost crawling for about 2 months now. He's creeping rather than crawling and gets very frustrated that he can't move where he wants to.
There is no rush for him to crawl and I'm keen for him to develop at his own pace, but I am struggling to find ways to entertain him.

He gets tired quickly when trying to crawl and when I try to sit him down he goes as stiff as a board as if he wants to stand.

Any ideas on how I can keep him entertained??

ds2 is also 8mo and is the same

he's happier when we're out and about, so i try to keep our days as full as possible

i also have a nearly-3yo, and tbh ds2 is pretty happy if we're outside and he can see ds1, or if we're at a class or something with ds1

the worst days are where we're stuck inside

Out and about is definitely the answer. I find that soft play is the best for us until the weather gets a lot warmer because DD can crawl around and is happy watching the other children, and there's still plenty to do for DS.

If you're stuck inside, try scattering toys/kitchen utensils/old remote controls around at a reasonable distance from him so that he has enough of a challenge to keep him going.

Just leave the kitchen door open.. he'll soon be in the cupboards & keep himself amused for hours

DS1 8 months and finally started crawling 2 weeks ago, we are very relieved as he was v grumpy and frustrated until he sussed it - just like yours sounds.

Second the others about being out and about.

When insideI would take him with me everywhere I went in the house while I did my chores. I put him at my feet on his front while I washed up, hung out washing etc etc. To keep him interested I would do as Corrie suggests and give him whatever was to hand - the laundry basket, measuring spoons, pan and lid etc (never toys - he is not interested in them )

It is so lovely when they get going

I used to put a big basket of stuff in front of dd to explore - anything baby friendly from the kitchen (wooden spoons, pastry brushes, funnel, measuring cups) plastic plates and tupperware, things with different textures like a loofah, flannel, nail brush, straws, bits of ribbons, cardboard tubes. Kept her entertained for ages (well, ages in baby time )

I agree with twofalls suggestion. A container with various objects in seems to provide hours of entertainment. I know my daughter gets bored if you keep giving her the same toy so I try to vary them. She also likes things that make noise eg. her brothers maracas.

Mmmm I'm in the same boat! DS 7.5 months is whingey and very frustrated. Must make an effort to get out and about more but he get's so frustrated that I tend to hide away at home

I WILL GO OUT TOMORROW!
