My 33 month old son has good understanding (receptive language seems age appropriate), can say more than 100 words and maybe around 10 two-and three words sentences. He is an only child and whilst his primary language is English, one parent is not an English native speaker and speaks another language to him though not always.

He is a lovely boy, full of life, great social skills, but you cannot have a 2 way conversation with him. He chooses to use single words mostly and is not talkative. He's in nursery full time and they believe he is delayed with his speech. It is not helpful that according to their assessment he is indeed rather behind because he simply does not speak in the nursery. When we do the same assessment at home, he's easily in the "green" ticking boxes that he should tick for his age.

We would like to find someone good with toddlers who is happy to spend time to properly assess him, and who would be acknowledged in their field in case further referrals/game plans are required.

Would appreciate your personal experiences/recommendations either on here, or via private message. Thank you!

If he's bilingual I think it's common for some delay?

I'd be more concerned about him not speaking in Nursery though, I think that's more unusual. How does he score on this Socisl & Emotional Ages & Stages?

Thank you, @CadyEastman! He seems to score completely normal. Health visitors have never been concerned with anything either. Challenges nursery mentions are not there at home, or when we visit places/friends etc. Hence we thought an assessment by a professional might do no harm. The gap between nursery listing things he apparently does not do/say there and what he does at home, just seems too big. Even if being bilingual can delay things, it would not explain this gap.
