At a loss with 8 year old DD

I will preface with generally dd is quite well behaved. We have the odd back chat and pre teen attitude but recently we have been really struggling with her lack of listening to instructions/care for anything!

For as long as I can remember we've had issues with her not putting rubbish in the bin... she will literally leave it anywhere, on the floor, on the sofa etc she's now not allowed to eat in the front room.

Today she's left a bottle of drink on the sofa with the lid not screwed on!

She wanted to play with hair chalks, told her she could but not in the living room. I was sorting the kitchen and when I turn round she's doing the hair chalks in the living room. And has got it all over the sofa/carpet/coffee table.

Yesterday she was in the bath, I was putting washing away in the bedroom. I could hear her splashing so said " be careful as you'll get water everywhere " she shouts back that she hasn't and is being careful. I hear more splashing so go in the bathroom and the floor is flooded! I have told her time and time again not splash about in the bath.

We've just had the garden done, so she can't go on the grass at the moment. So told her she has to stay on the path. She literally runs off up the grass!

I don't think she's doing it on purpose to be defiant but she just doesn't think! It's like we give her in instruction, she hears it, but it goes out of her head as soon as she hears it.

I am at my wits end and really lost it today over the sofa. She always says sorry but I'm getting a bit fed up of sorry's yet she does nothing to try and not do the behaviour again.

Don't know if I'm expecting too much for an 8 year old but I literally feel like she's a toddler again and I can't turn my back without her doing something she shouldn't be.

I'm not sure, mine are way past the preteen stage.

Hopefully someone will be along soon. If not, I'd post again in the Preteen section Flowers
