5 year old gets very frustrated and easily gives up when she can't do something

well, she's nearly 6.

find it so hard to help her do things as if she can't do it straight away she throws a wobbly and refuses to try again.

for example: skipping, forward rolls, jigsaws, reading, writing etc etc

how can I help her persevere in the face of adversity? mind you, I am probably the same. is it something they learn, how to apply themselves?

thanks

They do copy what we do but I also think that they are born with certain personality traits that they inherit. Maybe she is like you but it is how you react to the situation. Could you tell her a story about the time you learned to skip and tell her how long it could take?

DS is a little like this and ALWAYS has to be first/right. It can be very frustrating as we don't always have the answers.
