Would like to do more with him, at the mo he just has crayons, drawing, sometimes playdoh. I would like to do more things where he is allowed to get a bit messy, or just do more arty or creative things. He does love textures and colours.

Any tips much appreciated!

buy some cheapo paper plates, some white glue (elc) and cut up an old argos book or catalogue, get him to glue onto plates!

chalk on patio if youve got one

finger paints and let him paint on a window or patio door

DS absolutely LOVED doing this and it's really easy to wipe clean!

bowl of bubbles - run a bowl of water with lots of washing up liquid in, scoop out the bubbles into another bowl, keep on going till you have a bowl-full. Keeps my 18month old entertained for ages with spoons and other bowls to fill. Very easy to clean up afterwards.

keep your bog rolls and make them into people- he can paint/draw on them and stick fluffy things on etc...kitchen rolls for mummy/daddy, bog rolls for kids goes down a treat. My DD also loves making paper crowns for us to play kings and queens. 2 sheets of A4 sellotaped together is about the right size to go round a head.

same as dynamic - we get big bowls and i've bought a cat litter tray (not as mad as it sounds) and we put porridge oats / rice / lentils & beans /pasta / feathers / bubbles / anything in it, with some cups and spoons so they can play in it. Always on the tiled kitchen floor though where it brushes up easily!

we made glitter bottles, from empty plastic bottles, put some water glycerine (sp?) and glitter in - they love rolling them round the floor and watching the sort of snowstorm effect when you shake them.

Gloop, cornflour and water. Very very messy but lovely texture, it goes kind of solid then back to liquid.
