Baby rolled over last week but hasn't since...?

Just wondering if this is normal! Without any warning at all, my baby decided to do the hip rocking thing back and forth last week, and actually flipped over after purposefully doing this for about three minutes. All day long he did the hip rocking thing, back and forth.

After that day, though, he's never done it again. I've tried everything from putting him in the same outfit again to putting him on different types of rug to see whether he'll do it, but he's struggling - in fact he's putting his head on the ground a lot more now and is generally unhappy when I do tummy time with him. In total fairness, he did have his vaccinations and has been going through teething since the day he turned over, but I wonder if it's a case that he has to be very happy in order to do it? He flipped over when he was surrounded by stimulation, toys and sensory tools because we were at a class.

Any experience of this would be greatly appreciated, I just want to know if I'm doing something wrong or not encouraging him correctly! He's three months and three weeks.

My son is 1 now and hated tummy time and didn’t roll. Like yours he did it a few times at a similar age and then didn’t do it again for a few weeks. Just keep encouraging him to do it, move his body for him so he knows what it feels like and just give him plenty of opportunity to try it if he wants to. He’s still young to be rolling properly yet.
Eventually at about 4.5 months he rolled from tummy to back and then any time we put him on his tummy he’d roll straight onto his back, so he stopped tummy time at that stage as he wouldn’t stay there.
Also, some babies just don’t do things / do them in their own time and it’s fine. My son didn’t ever crawl because of never staying on his tummy, but he was walking unaided at 9 months. He only rolled from back to tummy at about 10 months as a means to get into position to stand. He’s a very healthy, happy boy now.
And you’ll find that they do something a few times, then stop, then do something else for a bit and then start something they used to do again. It’s a rollercoaster always worrying about their development and then they suddenly do something or stop doing something!

My DD rolled from tummy to back at 6 months but she absolutely hated tummy time and I think she only rolled over to get off of her tummy as she very rarely went onto her tummy willingly.
She has only just (in the last week) rolled from back to tummy and she is now 8.5 months. She is very much still getting used to the sensation of rolling onto her tummy.

3 months is still very little - I wouldn't worry at all OP.
