Baby doesnt coo or make any noise

My 4 month old doesnt make any noise whatsoever its beginning to really concern me. We had a meeting with community doctor the other day who did the asq 4 month test and my daughter was in black for communication. She said she will reassess in 6 weeks but my anxiety is through the roof as I know this is one of the main markers for autism.
She smiles alot and can maintain eye contact but is also delayed in alot of other development. She has had a hearing test as we were worried about her hearing due to being on alot of antibiotics when she was 6 weeks but it came all clear.
Has anyone had a positive story where their baby just started cooing at a later age?
Thank you.

What is she delayed in otherwise?
Mine was delayed in cooing/babbling but because of glue ear. What hearing tests did they do?

Hi @Glueear17 my daughter was in hospital at 6 weeks with a uti and was on alot of different antibiotics which they worried might have affected her hearing so they did the newborn screening and checked the ear nerves basically a dull test. She passed anyway so that's not the reason for the delay in being vocal. She still hasn't mastered tummy time can lift head a tiny bit but nowhere near what she should but she has good head control and hoping she will improve on that with practice. She also only started using her hands recently.

How did she score on the other sections of the ASQ? They're not expected to do everything in a section, so as long as she's in the white range, her development is looking okay in that area. A score or two in the grey often evens out over time (lots of babies make uneven progress, just based on what they happen to focus on), although I think grey scores do merit keeping a closer eye on when she's also got a section in the black.

How long was she poorly for? Even a couple of weeks is still a big chunk of her life at this stage. DD2 had horrific reflux, and until we got that under control, I felt it was affecting her development – she was simply in too much pain to be bothered about tracking toys or whatever. She's just turned 2 and long since caught up, but it's all a lot more recent for your DD.

Hi @skkyelark thank you for replying.
She scored in grey for personal/social & fine motor also. She was in hospital for a week and on antibiotics for 2 weeks. So I don't know if in the grand scheme of things that could account for the delays. Doctor said she was concerned and would see us again in 6 weeks.
I'm just praying she'll wake up from a nap one day and start yapping away.

I'm so glad to hear your little one is doing well.

It's so hard when you're worried about them and feel so helpless. It's good that the doctor is taking it seriously and will review in 6 weeks – if there's anything there, she'll get the extra support she needs nice and early. If it all evaporates into typical baby development, well, better to be safe than sorry!

I've just looked back at the 4 month questionnaire – if she's only just started using her hands, she could suddenly zoom up the personal/social and fine motor skills sections as that comes together. I think all you can do at this point is give her lots of opportunities – as much floor time as she'll tolerate (on her back as well as her tummy), lots of time handing her a toy (or a 'toy', i.e., a random, baby-safe household object) to explore as she sits on your knee, in her bouncer, whatever.

Does she seem interested in people, smile when you smile, watch you move around the room, smile at other people and seem pleased when they smile back at her? When was her last hearing test? Something like glue ear can develop later.

Thanks for the advice @skkyelark really appreciate it. She's currently on the mat swatting at toys but tummy time is a disaster I can barely get her to 3 and half minutes and she freaks out. Trying to build on that each time but it its proving difficult. I brought her to a cranial osteopathy recently who commented on her diaphragm said you could tell she isn't great at tummy time she doesn't have the strength and seems to have a stronger right side of body.

She is very smiley with me and at times with others but is a bit weary. She is nosey likes to look around at everything.
She will recently only allow me give her a bottle refuses to take it off anyone else.

I think my anxiety is almost trying to prepare me for the worst but it's ruining my time with my little ones so going to try go with things and hope for the best.
