Feel a bit silly asking this, but worried by the small size of ds1 penis, seems smaller than every one else

I guess if he is, then there is nothing that can be done, but feel clueless about all this being a woman. Does the size of a childs genitals suggest adult size? Don't want to get into a discussion about whether size matters, after all, his future sex life is nothing to do with me.
Just worried that he might be teased now, do boys notice each other's genitals? I suppose to help I should give an indication of size, I suppose it is about an inch in length maybe slightly more, and he is 5.
Am I being totally neurotic to even worry about this?

Oh, Tony Hart and his pink cravats

I think there's something to be said about body weight. My ds is very slim .. the boy next door, not so slim.

Don't worry, Overrun. Boys will regularly josh about a lad with a big penis, but I've never heard them joshing a lad with a small one. I think there's 'honour amongst men' in that department!

And an inch, maybe more, doesn't seem that small for a five year old!

snig · 27/03/2008 20:02

so i'm not the only one who worries about this sort of thing then, thank god for that!

QuintessentialShadows · 27/03/2008 20:05

I posted long. Then cringed and deleted. thought you should know.

why why why

Scattybird · 27/03/2008 20:10

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. What are you going to do anyway if it's just small - get an extension?

As long as your little boy has encouragement to be an outgoing and socially happy boy, the size of his penis will not matter in the least.

Blueskythinker · 27/03/2008 20:18

I thought I was the only one too. When I was expecting DS, our obstetrician told us we were expecting a girl. There was a pretty stunned silence in the delivery room!

I have always worried ever since that the mistake was made because my DS had a wee willy.

Only thing, is I haven't had any opportunity to compare.

Can't believe I am discussing the size of my son's penis in public

I'm worrying on the opposite end of the scale!

DS1 is aalot bigger than average.

Even the midwife mentioned the size of his huge wedding tackle -
As she put it.

He's 9 now.
It's quite frightening.

I worry that it's too big.

Hi, having read the posts, wonder if anyone esle might have a DS with a 'buried penis'. Mine has this, I always just thought he was a bit small, but when he was circumcised the Dr identitified it. Especially common with fatter babies, but it can take until puberty to become more normal looking. If you press the fat pad round the penis back (if they are still young enough not to mind you doing this!) you get an idea of the actual length.

MrsJohnMurphy · 05/08/2012 22:58

It's funny how different the bits are for different boys, ds1's has always been a bit wizards hat, ds2's is more kind of tubular iyswim. How exactly do you know if they are big or small?????

I have only ever seen the ds's bits at the equivalent age, ds2's does seem a bit bigger than ds1's, but how on earth do you know if they are small/average/big for their age ????

Not that I really care, I just know next to nothing about wiilies.

MerryCosIWonaGold · 05/08/2012 23:07

My ds1's seems 'small' too (about an inch and he's 6 nearly 7). His little brother's is a lot bigger. I don't worry too much, except about other kids picking on him for it, but since that's a way off (I hope), we'll cross that bridge when we come to it! A lot of kids in our area and our friends, are circumcised which tends to make it look shorter anyway - so ds has an advantage there. If he was circumcised it really would be tiny as half the length is just foreskin (seems to have a lot of it!).

No, I didn't take that BB13. I don't worry too much about ds1, but with another child who is younger but bigger I do worry that they'll 'compare' a bit when older.

I can't believe i am reading this post as i only have girls...

But i just wanted to say I am slightly worried that they will have no breasts like me. I was teased about it and totally embarrassed during puberty. However in the end of the day, if you are not tormented about the size of your penis/breasts, then it will be about your name/hair/glasses/clothes/nose/height...theres not much to do about it
