Advice Please!! 8 Wk vaccinations have changed my baby

Since having his 8 wk vaccinations exactly a week ago my baby is not the same child. He used to be happy and content to lie on his play mat and gurgle away. Now he screams after every feed, arches his back and locks his legs and lets out unbearable piercing cries. He won't be laid on his back and is only comforted by me holding him and his dummy. I know crying is what babies do but mine only cried when he was hungry prior to the jabs. he seems to be suffering from terrible wind/digestive trouble - can this be linked to the vaccines as it started at the same time? Surely this can't be coincidence? We are using infacol/gripe water and keeping him upright after every feed. He has Aptamil easy digest and has done since 2 weeks. He would have a bit of wind before but not like this. He burps well, but the pattern is an hour after the feed the pain and crying starts. i went to GP - very unhelpful. Babies cry, babies get wind, it doesn't harm them. She said that the jabs can cause inflamed bowels and I just have to wait it out. I read about lactose intolerance and lactase drops but GP said it was doubtful and just to carry on as we are. Silent Reflux? Doubtful she says. What she doesn't realise is that when your previously happy child looks at you in pain you worry that they think you've caused it, perhaps I have by taking him for those jabs. Is there anything I can do? Should I try the lactase anyway? Help Please!

Science I hate to debunk your well researched, scientific resurrection of a 8 year old thread but the measles vaccine isn't given at 8 weeks WinkHmm

The MMR has NOT, I repeat NOT been linked to inflammatory bowel disease.

The 'research' done by Andrew Wakefield has been thoroughly discredited.

6-8 weeks is classic 'gut kicking into action leading to colic' time. Our ds was the same and it's really alarming to look at. Screaming, arching, it's awful. But it's highly unlikely that it's linked to the vaccine. To me it sounds like either colic, the changes in gut flora that occur at this time, or silent reflux. You've got the colief drops and it looks like they're working. Things you could also try are:

Raising the head end of the mattress slightly
Keeping upright after feeds
Back to the GP to investigate silent reflux.
Gentle but thorough burping
Bowel yoga - basically when they're on their back, you very gently lift their knees and very gently press into their tummy. You can do bicycling movements or hold the knees together and circle clockwise. This often results in surprising amounts of farting!
We were advised to try bio drop things - the brand here is a Swedish one but they're probiotic drops. It's anecdotal but I think they helped a bit too.

Our ds largely grew out of it, but it was very alarming at the time.

Ds has also been dribbling and chewing since 2.5 months. He's almost six and still no teeth!

Sorry I know this is a zombie thread but still.... ;) can't let that slide.

Hi,
My baby was exactly the same as you described. Happy & content then after the 8wk jab, different baby. I took him to a cranial osteopath and fought hard for a referral to see a pediatrician. We ended up paying privately but as soon as he saw my DS, he diagnosed him with silent reflux.
Good luck, don't give up and trust your instincts x
