18 month old gagging on solids

My 18 month old toddler started nursery last week. Been on and off the last few days due to cold and fever. It’s been a week and she’s surviving only on milk. Twice since joining the nursery, she’s gagged and vomitted that the nanny has kindly changed her, my baby did get a bit upset they said.

She’s a good eater and sleeper and until I put her in the nursery she was at home with me or my parents during the day. Mostly on soft foods like rice and lentils mashed up, egg fired rice, fruits, porridge, pancakes, sautéed potatoes and carrots. She was on 8 oz formula during the day before nap and 2 bottles (formula) in the night. Now in the nursery she anyways doesn’t have access to milk before nap.
I think it’s bcos she’s not eating well the last week or so she’s now on three bottles (8 oz) of formula a night, once before bed and twice thru the night.

Is it normal for babies to gag at 18 months, I’m worried that her not eating normally is going to be an issue with settling down in the nursery? Also she still babbles and doesn’t speak (no words yet I mean). she’s an active happy baby. Should I be concerned?

I would say it's a bit unusual for them to be gagging on solids and not having any words at 18 months.

If she's had a fever for the last few days I would get her checked by a Doctor. Get them to check her throat and ears and mention that she's not speaking yet.

The 18 month ages & stages should give you an idea of where her speech should be, when she's well Flowers

@Vittoria123
Why don't you go to pediatrician and mention what's concerning you. The person you're quoting may have lost her password.
