Hi

I have noticed recently that my 6 month old boy is very active compared to other babies the same age. He always needs to be out of the pram / highchair being walked around or stood up on my knee (me holding him up) as sitting seems too boring for him and he just wiggles and squirms and makes frustrated noises. When out for a coffee with others who have babies the same age, they just sit in their pram, go to sleep or quietly play with toys, whereas my son won't stay in the pram or car seat and wants out to look at everything, grab everything on the table and be standing/ jumping on my knee.. he moves around so much that I be literally sweating holding onto him.. I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance or someone with a similar baby? As I am worried something may be wrong with him or that he has ADHD or something?

Thanks

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with him. Some babies are chill, some are more excited and active. Just like adults. I think you just don’t see the active ones in places like cafes as often as their parents know that it won’t be super enjoyable for them or their baby.
My little boy is the same. He’s nearly 1 and runs everywhere, doesn’t sit still, is constantly throwing things and is happy to just walk / run around the room rather than sit and play with toys. If I go to a cafe then he’s a nightmare, unless I have snacks. You might find it easer once your baby is eating more solids, so when you are in a cafe for example then you can pop him in a high chair and he can eat. This usually buys me a bit of time before he starts wanting to get out and run around again. I wouldn’t worry about it. Just find things that you can do together instead. Once he’s moving independently he’ll probably really enjoy soft play and you can let him go wild there!

Mine was the same and is now a proper live wire at 14 months, but developmentally doing fine as far as we can tell at this stage. When other mums asked if I wanted to go for coffee or lunch my thoughts were ARE YOU MENTAL and then i realised that their babies would just sit there and allow them to do that. . . Not mine though. Now she's just incredibly curious, energetic, and into everything so we are on our toes. My pal had a nice lazy baby who would sit on her lap for book after book, mine has to be ill to do that, or only just woken up. I've not got any adhd concerns at present xx

My little one is 7 months and I could have written your post, does not sit still just wants to be busy all the time.
Also very vocal, constant babbling, squeezing etc 😂

Mine was the exact same literally just wanted to be on the go didn't want to sit still was very active alert etc. nothing wrong with them as much as our minds make us question everything that isn't perfect or what we think it should be. It's just the way they are. And for us, they are perfect. Flowers
