Getting my girls to sleep away from home

Hi ladies.
I have been a member on here for ages but I think this is my first ever post!
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I have 9 month old twin girls who are very routine driven (not sure how as I never intended to follow a strict routine but they got themselves into one and now they really rely on it)

I am having real problems getting one of them to go to sleep anywhere other than in her cotbed at home. This impacts on the other one as she cant sleep listening to the crying then I have two cranky babies on my hands.

I am worried as I am going back to work in a few months and our parents are going to be looking after them 2 days a week each and I don't see how the girls are going to take any naps during the day.
For example today we went to my hubbys parents and put them in the travel cots but my older twin (who is always the problem with sleeping) screamed and would only go to sleep a few hours later when I lay on the bed with her and even then it was only for 20 minutes and she woke up still exhausted and grumpy.
Sorry for the long post.

Thanks in advance.
Helen

Will they sleep in a pushchair? Would they nod off if put in double buggy and taken for a walk?

when my mum used to look after my dd she used to take her out in the buggy and she would have her nap there even though at home she would have the nap in her cot. DD soon got into the routine of napping in the buggy when with gran and napping in the cot when at home - could something like that work for you?

Keep trying, keep trying, keep trying. They will eventually learn to settle themselves in any old place, but it will take time. I totally understand as we're going through a similar thing with my 8mo twin girls at the moment. Will only sleep during the day if in their car seats or in my arms - sleep like a dream at night in their cots, but will not go to sleep during the day in them.

P.S. Mine also found their own routine and stick to it with very little input from me!

Have they got a comfort blanket or toy? Or could you take bedding that smells familiar?

Pushchair was the only thing that worked for ds during the day. When he fell asleep I used to stick it in the house.
