Weaning off infacol

DS2 now 15 weeks was VERY windy and colicky from birth and we have used infacol among other things with great success. He is now starting to bring his wind up more easily and I wondered if I should start weaning him off infacol but am frightened of going back to the dark days of trapped wind . Also, do I wean him off slowly, say one feed a day and build up gradually or go cold turkey or am I just building this up into something it needn't be!!!! Could anyone else who has been in the same situation advise please.

Hi firststeps, we've just done this with Dd2. The fear of the screaming is intense! We did one feed on and one feed off for a couple of days then just the last night feed then cold turkey. It worked for us that way but I'd just say, read the signs. If it looks like wind is becoming an issue again then up the dosage. Good luck!

I used Dentinox rather than Infacol with DS and hated doing so. We kept trying to get him off it but each time within a couple of days we'd gone back to the restless, screaming, misery with no one getting any sleep. I ended up giving it to him 3 times a day until he started on solids at around 7 months. I stopped it when he was eating 3 times a day (although I have continued to breastfeed on demand)and there were no ill effects. Although we're now onto teething and the dilemma of whether or not to give Calpol / Teetha, and getting cold after cold and administering Medised

I tried to wean my dd off Infacol at about 3 months. BIG mistake! I only dropped one dose per day and the colic came back with a vengeance. I tried this many times but in the end she was 4 months before i could completely stop. Have you tried eliminating dairy and wheat from your diet (if breastfeeding)? I found it helped with me a little but i still needed the infacol.

EzrasMummy - that is exactly what I am afraid of! When you did maage to wean your dd off at 4 months how did you do it - was it gradually or all at once?
