I'm beginning to really worry, how long can he live like this? Or am I ever thinking and its a phase he will soon outgrow?

We just didn't have any of these worries at all with our 7 year old!

Please do pass on any advice. It feels like we have tried everything now. He has been getting himself really constipated as its a struggle to get him to drink water too.

That does sound really worrying for you. My DD hardly ate at that age, turns out she has ARFID, it's so much easier to handle now she's older.

Have you read My Child Won't Eat by Carlos Gonzalez?

If he does eat pancakes could you put something like a few strawberries in a separate bowl? We had some success if they had a something we knew she would eat alongside a new food as long as they were separated and there was no pressure to eat the new food.

Is he getting a daily vitamin too?

Kalodi · 06/02/2024 09:28

Thank you @CadyEastman yes, thankfully he will take a daily vitamin as he views those as sweets. (He eats sweets too ofc but I can't count that as food!)

My friend mentioned ARFID but maybe I'm just in denial about it.

Thank you for the recommendation, I'll check that out

From what I gather ARFID usually presents alongside other neuro diversities like ASD/ADHD/Dyslexia or Dyspraxia. Has anyone ever mentioned anything that would make you think he has one of these?

I have ADHD and ASD and my 7 year old is also autistic but I haven't really seen this in my 4 year old.

Interestingly food is my special interest and my 7 year old has also never had an issue with food either.
