please help !!
my son is 2 at toddler stage has been walking for over a year . He refuses to get into the pushchair . Once he is in the pushchair he climbs out while I’m pushing him . So I let him walk with reins he kicks off he doesn’t want to walk . He lays on the floor in the streets crying because he doesn’t want to talk he always wants to be carried but at the age of 2 he’s quite heavy to carry around and it’s so inconvenient how can I stop this ????

Do you just keep offering him the choice, nicely but firmly, "pushchair or walk"?

My DS was like this but he wanted to walk, just didn't want to hold my hand or have reins on so I had to say many times "pushchair or reins" and eventually he'd relent and choose one or the other.

Does the pushchair face you too? I had more success if he was facing me.

How is he getting out of the pushchair? Is he undoing the straps or sliding out of them or something else?

He can undo the straps ! He pushed the buttons :(

Try putting a bit of velcro, the prickly side, on the button. Sometimes that's enough to deter them. You can get velcro that's got adhesive on the back so it just sticks on.

Thank you for the idea . He always refused to get in the pushchair it’s a fight to put him in it I am so stumped with ideas ! I got him a trike it’s no different he doesn’t want to walk either so it’s really difficult . I give him toys , cartoons and food to keep him entertained he just gets in a state and throws it all

If he goes stiff and straight to make it tricky to get him in the buggy, I've heard tickling them can help, they bend around the tickle and then you can get them in. I've not tried it myself, though – we're more thrashing arms and legs here.

I did have luck with repeating 'walk or buggy? I'm going to count to three, and if you're not walking, I'm putting you in the buggy', but it does make for some painful journeys whilst they're learning. I would let mine try walking again at fairly short intervals, in the hopes that repeating the process multiple times close together would make them 'get it' sooner.

If it's a shortish journey, I sometimes take my not quite 2 year old on my shoulders if I want to go faster than she can walk but without the buggy battle. That does need her cooperation, though.
