First teeth cutting inside of bottom lip - is this normal?

My ds has recently got his two bottom teeth through together. They are currently around 3mm above the gum line and over the past couple of weeks he has cut all over the inside of his bottom lip which leaves him in a lot of pain.

Has anybody else experienced this before? Are there any suggestions on what to do to prevent the cutting? He has just cut it again in the past ten minutes and I can't see any reason why - he hasn't fallen or bitten his lip.

Thank you.

mmm how old is he? Just wondering if he's perhaps trying out new muscles and biting inside lip without meaning to. DS is 7 months and does this wierd thing where he screws up his eyes and bites on his bottom lip with his top gum. Thankfully he has no teeth yet! I've been told that he is just trying out new facial expressions and getting to know how to contol muscles.

I have no advice I'm afraid. Are the teeth at an angle or particularly sharp? I'd mention it to HV. Sure there's nothing to worry about. You may find that as they come through fully they aren't so sharp and also the tips are further up closer to roof of mouth so won't irritate the bottom lip so much.
