Pulling himself to standing, to the start of cruising furniture in 3 attempts...............

EEEEEEEEEK!!!

4 days ago DS3 (9 1/2 months) started pulling himself into a kneeling position holding onto things. At that point he couldn't sit up unaided for more than about 30 seconds - he drags himself across the floor with one arm and one legs, but has been trying normal crawling.

This afternoon he's been pulling into kneeling position left right and centre. Then he suddenly pulled himself to standing with the sofa, first attempt pretty rocky and he went straight over. Under deterred he tried again and stayed up for longer - again fell over. Tried a 3rd time and then "side-stepped" 5 steps along the sofa to try and grab DS1's PS2 controller

I then sat him on the floor and he sat there for 5 minutes without coming close to falling over........

I'm rather that he was side-stepping along the furniture after pulling himself to standing for only the 3rd time.....

Clever boy. Very determined by the sound of it. Id be really pleased hed done it that quickly and then decided to sit up like that aswell. Bet it brought a big to your face.

FAQ · 18/03/2008 20:16

it did - after I'd posted he was standing up holding onto me and wanted to get to the sofa......so I put my arm out like a bridge - and he (albeit with lots of wobbles) worked his way along.

I'm sure DS2 (DS1 was lazy, and "late" and did everything in the totally "non-normal" order LOL so I don't use him as an example) didn't progress that quickly from kneeling/standing/cruising LOL.

That is really quixk my ds was like that aswell then went to standing on his own quiet quickly. If he carries on at that rate hell be walking soon lol. How are you today? hows the clean up mission going?

FAQ · 18/03/2008 20:33

DS2 walked at 10 months........don't think that DS3 is going to be quite as quick - but given his progress today (which has quite honestly floored me) I'm not going to make any bets on it.

I'm not too bad today - been busy. Between nursery drop-off and pick-up this morning I went into the school to do the assembly (a group of us go in once a month), then this afternoon I had a funeral to play for at church - then I sat on my arse until it was time to cook dinner .

So cleaning has been a bit slow.......however I've already washed the dishes tonight, emptied the bins (and put the relevant one out for collection tomorrow), and am going to do 15 minute "bursts" this evening. Half of me wants to be on here, the other half wants to tidy up a bit so I'm decided that 15 minutes on MN, 15 minutes off - that way I won't be annoyed at myself for not doing what I want

Aww how lovely!!! It's amazing how they get an idea in their heads one day and just do it! It's true what people say though, development comes in spurts. One day when ds was 5.5 months he obviously couldn't sit unaided. Within a week he was able to sit unaided for 10- 15 minutes. Strange little things babies, they never fail to amaze! Bet you are very proud. He'll be walking all over the place soon!

Glad your ok. I think thats a good idea 15 minutes on 15 minutes of that way youl be able to see your achievement so far when you go back for your next 15 minutes. I tend to do something like that lol. Or try and do housework before i sit at the computer.

now im jealous lol. OO ive got some malibu left think i may have to have a glass. Make my ironing more intresting

FAQ · 18/03/2008 20:43

I need to do some ironing........but need to get the table sorted first as that's where I put the stuff I've ironed - and there's currently no space.

Oh - and DS3 slept through last night, hasn't had as many bottles today either........but still not much interest in food (too busy learning new things).

i put mine on the sofa more space in the front room and i can keep an eye on MN hehe . Im glad he slept through i think he wats to get up and go. Maybe once hes more mobile hell be more intrested in food as hell be working up more of an appetite. How are ds1 and ds2?

FAQ · 18/03/2008 20:59

I do sometimes put it on the sofa..but that means I HAVE to put it away almost straight away (or first thing the following morning) - if I pile it on the end of the dining table I can leave it for days if I so wish

DS1 and 2 are ok.
