Underweight toddler - is this an issue?

Please help, my dh has got me all worried!

Dd hasn't put on a great deal of weight for well, probably a year - I haven't 'had her weighed' at clinic or anything. She is 10.2kg (weighed on our scales this morning) and average height. She looks fine, just pretty slim and long and lean (I am too, well, not long). My instincts are that she is fine...

BUT dh is worried - she is 9th centile-ish on the chart. Shoudl I take her to doctor?

As far as I am concerned she eats well - a good variety of foods, she just hasn't a huge appetite - she'll try most things and enjoys her food but will only eat what she wants from it. Eg will want a cake that we have made, enjoy a few mouthfuls and that will be enough. Sometimes she will be more hungry but she tends to eat til she is full and that's it. She doesn't ask for other foods and doesn't seem hungry... If she has a cold or anything she can eat very little. She has about a pint of milk over the day.

So confused! Should I try and 'plus fat' her diet a bit or take her to the doctor?

Sounds just like my dd2. Teeny ickle thing (I'm not huge meself tho). She will eat almost anything, but just in small snack sittings throughout the day. She just refuses to eat more than she wants (regardless of what it is). She is very bright, healthy and (very very) active so I'm not going to worry.

If she has plenty of energy and is eating well I wouldn't worry.

IF you are a slim build as well then she probably gets it from you.

My DD2 is 9.7kg and is 2.3yrs. Tiny little thing. She eats well though but life's just too interesting to sit and eat much at a time and will only eat to sate her hunger and not to get full because she'd rather be doing other things.

I'm on a mission to get as much fat and sugar into her as possible. I'm trying peanut butter, hiding cream and cheese in sauces (she hates cheese), custard with puddings, ice cream, cake etc. I asked for some tips on here not so long ago for ways in which to get some calories into her. Will find the thread for you.

Here you go. There were some good links to others threads discussing the same problem on there as well I think.

Thanks, that's very reassuring! Will try to add some more calories with some of the methods and see how I feel in a week or so.
Will also have to show the thread to dh - thanks again
