just potty trained....do I transfer dd to bed now?

I have been potty training dd 2 and half for the last 2 weeks. She is doing quite well, averaging 2 accidents a day...but otherwise good.

At the moment she is in her cot which is a cot bed. This morning I went into her and she had taken her nappy off and done a wee in the bed. Now do I transfer her to the cot bed and take the sides down now. I am unsure that she would get the whole concept of staying in bed and I am worried about her having to learn so many things all at once.

She hasn't mastered the toliet training yet as still sometimes just sits and does a wee but at the same time I don't want to have to wash her bed clothes every morning.

Not sure what to do....

Any thoughts please will be much appreciated.

I would leave things as they are for the time being. Although having said that both of mine were in beds by that age and got the concept of staying there.... However DS was a full year between day and night training. Whereas DD seemed to get both at the same time at just 2. But she has never really needed to get up and use the potty/toilet. In fact I had the opposite problem whereby I really struggled to persuade her to do a wee before she went to nursery. In fact one of the rare occasions she wet herself at nursery, was at about 11am having last done a wee at 7pm the previous day. Sorry I am diverting.

I would hope that today is a one off and hope she doesn't do it again. Certainly wouldn't try tackling night training while she is not reliable in the day.

I was thinking of keeping her nappy still on but just if she woke up in the morning and took her nappy off like she does then she could use the potty, or doesn't it work like that.

I didn't want to tackle the night time at all it's just when she wakes in the morning she whips her nappy off as she doesn't like it

why not jsut leave the cot side down so she can get in and out? At least then she won't be falling out of bed.

Yes I appreciate that motherfunk, but my thought was if she has access to get out then she might use her potty instead of having to wee in the cot

Why do you think she wouldn't understand the concept of staying in bed? Maybe you could talk about it for a few days beforehand? But honestly you might be worrying about nothing. Neither of mine ever got out of bed in the evening/night. Even now DD doesn't - she will shout me for a cuddle or because she is cold, but does not get up.

thank you bozza, we are going to explain the whole concept as you suggest and go for it this weekend
