How long for hydromol to work?

Hi everyone,

LO has mild eczema on stomach and was prescribed hydromol however I can’t see any changes other than some small spots now appearing in the area we’re focusing the application. Does anyone have any experience with this?

He is teething at the minute and also has a very red neck/chest but no dryness and it doesn’t look like eczema but rather a dribble rash. Have any of you applied hydromol to that area for that issue too? I just want to check he’s getting the cream if it’s eczema but if it isn’t eczema, I’m not making it worse!

Thank you x

Probably not that helpful but my baby was prescribed hydromol for dry skin on his face and it’s not worked at all, we’ve seen no difference.

Have they worked out what's causing the eczema? Sounds like he may have an allergy?

NorthernMam17 · 13/01/2024 13:22

Why would it be an allergy?

Eczema can quite often be a sign of an allergy. I had eczema and was allergy tested. Turns out I am allergic to nickel, house dust mites, guar gum and milk.

Thank you :) how do you handle a dust mite allergy?! Sounds tricky!

my baby suffered with eczema badly too and hydromol made no difference. Turned out he had allergies triggered by black mould in the house- you can push for a referral to peadiatric dermatology for an allergy test but they will push steroids -avoid like the plague!
We paid for a blood test with York tests that showed all allergies and sensitivities And then saw a naturopath through Naturedockids on Instagram. Also check out Sam Faiers post on her insta about her sons eczema also Catherine farrant on insta.
my son is now 4 and things that had the biggest effect -
healing his gut health (proven probiotics off amazon)
removing aggravating foods and slowly reintroducing
quercitin supplements to lower histamine reaction (get these off nature doc website)
iron supplement
also making my own moisturiser with Shea butter (Pinterest recipe)

Thank you, Leosun.

I did a huge deep clean of the bathroom, washing machine and tumble dryer. I think mould spores were festering in those places. I also blitzed the whole house thoroughly including on top of fitted wardrobes etc - places I haven’t been getting to with a 6 month old!
I started using Surcare with no fabric softener, boil wash with extra rinse. I also started using the Salcura range of from H&B and so far it has really calmed his skin down and made a positive difference.
Thank you so much for the advice. I think I will pay for the blood tests regardless though as that sounds to have made a great difference for you.
Did you need to be checked before giving your son the quercitin tablets? X

Ah fab glad it’s calmed down a bit. Dust mite covers for pillows and mattresses really helped for us too.
no didn’t need to be checked by anyone but I gave half a capsule at a time mixed with a smoothie or yoghurt. You can buy them off the naturedockids website
