Wrist twirling in 9 month old

My nearly nine month old has recently been wrist twirling and opening and closing her hands more and more frequently since Christmas. She’s currently quite poorly with norovirus which seems to be exacerbating it but I’m just wondering whether how concerned I should be at this stage? Illness aside she’s usually a really happy and sociable baby. Great eye contact, tracks you entering and leaving a room, smiles when you smile, responds to her name, laughs at her sibling playing with her, babbling appropriately.

My only other concern is her struggling with solids. She doesn’t like spoon feeding so I’ve tried to let her do baby led weaning but whenever she takes a big bite of something (eg toast) she’ll usually vomit as soon as it hits the back of her throat. I spoke to the HV about it a few days ago (before I realised she was coming down with Norovirus) who was not reassuring and has basically made me feel really concerned that there’s something wrong.

I don’t know if both are linked but if anyone has any reassurances of their children turning out completely fine it would be very much appreciated.

I'm not an expert but I would have thought that wrist turning was perfectly normal at 9 months.

If you're worried though you could fill in and score the 9 month Ages & Stages and the 12 Month Social & Emotional Ages & Stages.

If you have a look through the MN archive or the weaning section, they're very lots of threads on sensitive gag reflex too Wink

Hey, how's your little girl now? I am currently going through exactly the same thing with my baby! Worried FTM!
