18mths still not saying any proper words

I'm sure things like this have been done to death but my 18mth DS is still just babbling (constantly) so we get dadada babababa wawawaa nanananan, diediedie (that one's a bit concerning!) but no real words and nothing that kind of sounds like a proper word. He mostly just squeals and points at things.

Anyone had the same thing? Reason for concern?

Forgot to add that my 23mth-old has started to use words within the last couple of weeks and he too pronounces them with the wrong consonants, eg "dain" = train, "gee" = green, "boo" = blue etc.

My son was similar at that age - turned out to be due to impaired hearing due to chronic glue ear. If you are worried you can ask your health visitor to arrange a hearing test...you can also try a few things at home - talking quietly to him when he is facing the other way and see if he hears you..asking him to do something simple whilst covering your mouth (my 2 year old was a fantastic lip reader!)
Ds had grommits fitted eventually, and his speech improved dramatically.
