Referral to Paediatrics for 16 month old gross motor delays

Has anyone had their child referred to paediatrics for delayed gross motor skills? My 16 month old son was born 9 weeks premature so is 14 months corrected. He was slow to roll either way and slow to army crawl which is still all he does now. He's the only one in his room at nursery who doesn't stand or walk and I see babies much younger than him doing so much more. He cab say a handful of words and his fine motor skills are conpletely normal. Because of his prematurity I became concerned and submitted a query to my GP and they have made a referral to paediatrics for his lack of proper crawling (on the knees), standing and walking. Has anyone else been through similar? What can I expect of this type of referral? I feel quite anxious!

I'm not sure but I think one thing they might check is his hips, especially if he isn't bearing weight.
