Can I use Olbas oil junior for 4 week old ?

We spent a restless night with DD struggling to breath.

I have already raised her moses basket on one end, using a humidifier and saline nasal drops.

Can I place some drops of olbas oil on a bib and place next to her?

Poor little thing!

I don't think Olbas Oil is OK before 12 weeks, unfortunately.

I hope she gets better really soon.

get her to your gp - cant take chances - mine ended up in hospital with a raging temp over the weekend - awful

I don't know if you can get them in the UK, but I have this brilliant little gadget that sucks the snot right out of their little noses. It's just a simple suction bulb, so when a snotty baby needs a feed, you can suck out all the yuck and then they can breathe long enough to feed.

I await someone saying these things are horribly dangerous and banned in the EU. But I've found them invaluable on my snotty babies.

How about a drop of oil in the humidifier? Check with the GP but that seems fairly gentle.

coc, i got one of those from my local pharmacist in south west Scotlnad about a year ago. It did help. Also, you can get a plug in Karvol thingy. Not sure when it's usable from, but worth a look.

You have my sympathies!

Take her to the GP and ask for some saline nasal drops - pop them in 20 mins before a feed (or as near to that sort of time). They worked a treat for our DD.

Hope she gets better soon!

Our dd had a cold at about 6 weeks. We used saline drops - the only thing we could use. Worth checking with dr in case there's an infection (ears/chest), but if there isn't, there's not a huge amount you can do other than what you're doing while you sit it out. When our dd's cold turned into a dry cough we put wet towels on the radiators to humidify the air in the room. And if her nose gets sore, you can rub vaseline on the sore bits.... poor little thing.
