I'm struggling with Close Baby Carrier - any advice?

When he was newborn my ds would go in the Close Baby Carrier no problem but now he's seven weeks old he screams the place down whenever I try to put him in it.

I don't think he likes the way the fabric covers his head. I'm gutted as I was hoping to be able to get on with some two-handed work while breastfeeding.

Also, even when he would go in it I didn't find it that comfortable or feel that he was secure as the fabric seemed to rest on my shoulders and upper arms and always felt like it was gradually sliding down. I have quite a small frame so is it that, or am I doing something wrong?

Is he a big fella?

I used my Close Baby Carrier until ds2 weighed about 18lbs by which point he was dangling around my knees after a few steps.

I'm sure you can still use it. Mine also screamed when put in but now loves a sling. Could you try going outside when you put him in?

is he still on the new baby way? Or upright? Ds2 hated the newborn lay. But now 11mths on he loves the upright facing in. Worth getting a coorie as well. Ds2 squeals with delight when he sees ms getting that out. You do need to keep the fabric folded around the shoulders when they are little, once they are heavier they weigh it down and it sits better. I love my close carrier muchly

Jellyrolly - he is about 12lb and is quite a long baby.

Piffle - I haven't managed to get the hang of the upright position - can't get my head around where his legs go

I think the pressure of trying to figure it out before he starts screaming is too much for my post-pregnancy brain!

Any tips?

I have one too - DD hated having her head tucked in (so a ring sling was out too). She loves being upright though, and now she can hold her head up sits looking out and is really happy whilst shopping.

I found the instructions good if you followed them step by step. maybe try with a teddy?
Basically put the sling on. put baby on should, and tuck it's opposite leg behind the strap, and over the lower part. then swap shoulders and do the same with the other leg. once you've got the hang of it it's really quick.

I think you need to figure out the upright carry. No way DS would have stood for the newborn position at that age (in a hug-a-bub, admittedly, rather than the CBC, but the carries are basically the same). Agree on trying with a teddy -- the legs are a bit shorter, but you can get the basic technique down.
