Changing nappies a nightmare

HI..

I was hoping all you wise and experienced Mums might have some top tips for me. The problem is my 8 month old DD - she will not lie still so I can change her nappy and it has become a total nightmare - I am sure this is totally normal but I really need to get it under control as I dread every time she does a poo!!!!

Basically, she has started trying to stand up so she rolls over on the changing table, then sits up then starts to stand up on both feet with her hands on the mat. As you can imagine it makes putting a nappy on very hard - she point blank refuses to lie on her back.

I have tried to be forceful but it ends in screaming from her.

Any tips??

Thanks in advance

Hilary and Bossykate - sorry if you're referring to my post - I was only trying to be encouraging, having gone through complete despair at ds ever lying still. Sometimes I find it helpful to find people who've had the same problem, but now have come through it.

Sorry if I made it worse.

musica, sorry i upset you, it was just meant to be a joke. i'm sure you're not really exaggerating, i can just be rather envious of those with docile children atm!

apologies again.

That's ok bossykate - I didn't want you to think I was secretly gloating, whilst pretending to give advice! Not upset!

I wasn't referring to anyone on here, just making the comment that it was really infuriating that other people's children seemed like such a dream compared to mine. Point taken that they may not always have been that way! Sorry if you thought I was aiming the comment at you, not at all.

Sorry too Hilary - really wasn't wanting to make anyone feel bad. Sorry if I did - I know it can be annoying if someone says 'Oh mine never did that...' - wasn't meaning to do that!
