Toilet trained 6 year old starts having accidents at age 6

Just looking for some advice, My son is 6 he was fully toilet trained by 3 and have had no accidents since being fully toilet trained. In May I had family members move in after a separation of their family. My son started pooing himself not long after they moved in, initially I thought it was because he was scared he was going to miss out on playing with my nephew, however they lived with me for a month then left but the accidents continued, I thought perhaps it was because there was a disruption in his routine see how he goes now things have returned to normal. Not long after this we had his step sister come to stay with us for the 3 of the 6 weeks summer holiday, it continued through this time. It got worse when I went abroad for a week with the girls for a birthday, during this time he was at home with dad and his sisters. I thought perhaps wait until school starts and see if because this is his normal routine it would resolve the issue, It hasn't! :( I have gone to the doctors and they automatically went to thinking he had been abused (this was not the case) He is now being referred to the children's development centre but there is a massive waiting list for an appointment. I just wondered if anyone has been through something similar and can help a very stressed out mum! I have tried laxatives thinking it was constipation overflow, this didn't stop the accidents just made them worse. Now he is having at least 1 accident a day but can be anything up to 4.

When he started school he trained himself to not go for a poo in school which the doctor said was normal as she only likes her own toilet. So fortunately this never happens in school but everywhere else it does happen, whether were out in town, at a party, in a friends house, in family's houses or in our own home. I feel like I now need to carry a bag with 4 changes of clothes as we have come unstuck a fair few times and unfortunately he has had to sit in it until we've managed to get home.

I am keeping a "poo diary" so when we do get our appointment I have evidence there already but I feel like I'm at my wits end :(

His diet is terrible as he only eats 3 different foods at dinner time, eats the same packed lunch for lunch that he has eaten for 3 years and the same breakfast of Ready Brek every day for breakfast.
