my DD is 22 months and she’s really into playing shops / house etc.
she’s chatty and happy and squeals with delight. But she’s hard to get to giggle. She’s super calm and compliant but she’s not very wild and energetic. If I try and rough house with her sometimes I get a giggle but mostly she tells me ‘no’.
is it normal for kids of this age to not be pushing boundaries so much or wanting to rough house / be silly? Also I read kids averagely laugh 300 times a day. I can count on my hand how many giggles I get out of my DD every day even with things which make other toddlers giggle easily. (Silly faces etc)
she’s always been a tough crowd when it comes to getting laughs and I do try but perhaps I’m not naturally very silly.
does anyone else here have more serious introverted and calm toddlers?
I find it really hard to laugh and so I have to fake it a lot with her because I just want her to see laughter and joy. I try hard to be playful but I worry I wasn’t playful enough with her as a baby because I was always worrying about how she felt and would forget to try and make her laugh out of the crying.
I guess I’m looking for reassurance that a serious toddler is normal and it doesn’t mean she’s not happy / thriving. As you can see I am a worrier and I’m opening up here as I just don’t want my worries to impact her.
