6 year old pee accidents

My 6 (nearly 7) year old wets the bed almost every night & has done for around a year. More recently she has been wetting herself at home & at school. At first I thought it was down to laziness but now I actually think she has a problem as she’s told me she doesn’t know she’s doing it.
i try so hard not to get frustrated but I’m just absolutely sick of washing wet through stinky bedding every day, picking a her up from school absolutely stinking on urine & cleaning my sofa & carpets all the time from where she’s sat and wee’d. I’ve spoken to school & they was no help, I’ve contacted the GP who advised no drinking an hour before bed & to up water intake during the day.. this hasn’t helped & i honestly don’t know what else I can do, I feel like I’m potty training a toddler, she was out of nappies by 2, dry at night straight away & now 4 years later, it’s like she’s regressed. Worst part is, she doesn’t seem to care, her bits are red raw from sitting in wet clothes at school, she doesn’t care she smells & if I talk to her she will KICK off and put her hands over her ears.

im at my whits end, any advice? Thank you

Hi, I have a similar issue with my son. He’s 8, and still wears a nappy for bed. He won’t go to the toilet for a poo, holds it in for days until it’s massive then waits for his nappy and goes in that. He says he can’t feel it but I’m sure he can. He’s home schooled which makes things easier. Bit like you daughter he doesn’t care in the slightest. He will happily go to sleep with a full nappy of poo or go in his pants during the day and not say anything. I know I haven’t given any advice but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone x

Thank you for your reply. I had the same issues with poo a year ago on top of the constant wetting & was told to give lactulose which helped massively.
It’s so frustrating isn’t it, I don’t want to go to having to start putting her in pull ups at night as I don’t think that will help at all but I feel at a loss end & no support from anywhere.
hope you & your son work things out x

I hope things work out for you both too. My son has never been fully toilet trained and he’s always struggled with going for a poo right from being a baby. I’ve given him movicol which works but as soon as I stop he just gets bunged up again. I don’t want to have to “make” his body go to the toilet, it needs to happen naturally. I think a trip to the doctors is going to happen but I’m afraid for him as to what they are going to do. Good luck with your daughter x
