Hi

This is the first time ive ever asked for help on a public domain. So thankyou for stopping by.

My Son, 4, started school september, and i still feel that he is overwhelmed in a lot of areas.

Hes been to nursery since he was 1 years old, and i have never been told anything bad about him.

Today as we were walking home, another parent pulled up along side us in thier car, and told me that my son 'KEEPS ' pushing her son over. And that her older son has witnessed this.

I was very confused because as i said above, i have never been told that he has this behavoiur, and has been known to activily avoid social interaction.

I told her nothing been said and that i will speak to his teachers and her comment back was 'well im on of the teaching assistants, and you need to tell him to stop."

Again i was taken back by this, as it was my understanding that anything that happens in schools, especially the early years groups, goes through the school. And because this teaching assistant has taken it upon her self to challange me rather then go through her peers.

Now i have asked him about pushing anybody today and he has said that he hasnt, so we had the talk about how pushing can make people feel sad, he only turned 4 in june so hes still developing that area.

Am i over reacting? Im going to have to speak to his teachers about it, because i dont want him pushing people anyway... but am i wrong to feel this has been handled wrong by this teaching assistant?

Sorry for the long post....

You are not wrong.

To other parents, whether or not they are TAs, say 'if your DC is having issues with mine in school you need to speak to the teacher'.

And yes, check with the teacher yourself too.

Thankyou for that!

I wanted to make sure i wasnt been unreasonable

Ps. @KatieF86 in case you aren't aware there is a Primary Education board on MN to help you navigate through primary school.

Definitely talk to the teacher first. This was unprofessional of the TA.

Talk to the teacher and definitely mention that the parent said she was a TA because that is seriously overstepping.

Update#

So after telling my husband what had happened, my son got very upset as he overheard me.

I spoke to the head today about this "TA" . Before i even gave the details of this woman, the head knew who exactly who i was on about.

And she's not even a TA!! The school have said that they are going to deal with her as she is prone to cause these problems.

But im just shocked how someone could be like that ....
